Cacace, who resigned as County Court Judge in December 2023 after nearly 20 years in the position, earned 59 percent of the votes during the Democratic primary election held on Tuesday, June 25, according to a New York Times report.

Cacace defeated her opponent, attorney and Mount Vernon native William O. Wagstaff III, who earned 31 percent of the votes, the New York Times reported.

In addition to her experience in the County Court, Cacace also spent nearly 15 years serving in the Westchester DA's Office.

She holds a law degree from Pace University, which she earned in 1989.

Westchester's current District Attorney, Miriam Rocah, chose not to run for re-election, which she announced in October.

The Republican candidate for the DA's Office is John Sarcone, who Cacace will run against in the general election.
